A Cost-Effective Warehouse Solution Helps Carolina Businesses Increase Safety
Warehouse safety is a top priority for every Carolina warehouse operator, and one easy way to protect your pallet rack and inventory from damage is with steel mesh containment panels.
Steel mesh containment panels are modular-sized panels made from steel-welded wire mesh. They are available in single or double-wide widths and can be mounted flush against the rack or offset to allow for pallet overhang.
Steel mesh containment panels stop products and equipment from falling from the pallet rack, causing damage or injury below. They also help maintain the open flue space between back-to-back rack systems, helping your facility comply with fire safety standards. Steel mesh containment panels create a hard stop if hit and prevent sharp, bulky, or uneven loads from falling from pallet racking. Safety netting is a similar alternative, but it allows more give. Safety netting will catch falling items vs. stopping them entirely. Typically it’s used to mitigate inventory damage, excessive cleanup, and of course, prevent worker injuries.

Steel mesh containment panels add a layer of safety to warehouse safety efforts. They can also be used around conveyors and other operational equipment to stop workers from unintentionally entering dangerous areas.
WAREHOUSE SAFETY & RACK REPAIR

Standards for steel containment panels were recently updated by the The Protective Guarding Manufacturers Association (ProGMA) and approved by American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The standards are the first of their kind, offering standard performance and testing requirements, best practices, and a blueprint for safe use. These guidelines provide another critical safety layer that will help improve warehouse and industrial facility health.
Most of the testing standards focus on what happens when the panel is struck. The steel will deflect if hit with force, causing possible load displacement. For example, if that panel is guarding a flue space, you may have a situation where that space is now compromised. Ultimately, it is best to have your system evaluated if you encounter pallet rack or panel damage.
