Vertical carousels can save you over 70% floor space vs. standard racking by using tall ceiling heights. They have a narrow, compact design ranging from a few feet to over 40’ tall. The system's height depends on the application and size of its components, such as trays, conveyors, and lifts. Some systems are designed with adjustable trays so that they can be changed in height depending on what is being stored. Additionally, the height of each carousel can be adjusted to fit within a facility’s ceiling height.
Horizontal carousels can be configured in a variety of lengths and carrier shelf sizes to meet your specific inventory needs These are ideal high-density storage solutions when ceiling heights are low. Items can sit directly on the shelving or in totes. The typical arrangement is to group multiple machines (3-4) in a pod to gain more efficient picking. As one machine stops to present the light-driven pick request to the operator, the other machines in the pod can be indexed to present the next pick carrier, thus eliminating operator wait time. When arranged with a light-driven put wall, multiple orders can be batched pick to achieve higher pick rates.
