Customized design blends usefulness and safety for your over dock door storage rack. The system is designed to fit your unique space and application requirements, ensuring the safety of your team while providing easy access to the stored materials.

Over Dock Door Storage Rack Designs

  • Conventional Rack
  • Single-Leg Offset

Conventional Rack - pallet rack uprights between the dock doors connect with sturdy beam levels above. Add decking for greater safety and expand your rack use to non-palletized items.

Single-Leg Offset – the lower portion of the front columns recesses the wall, extending the forklift turn radius at the dock.

Suspended Pallet Rack – secured to the ceiling and the dock wall, this design completely removes the rack columns from the forklift path entirely. However, this system is usually restricted to new builds where the roof is engineered to support the structure and should never be installed without consultation with the building architect.

Design tips:

  • Use beam lengths that correspond with door spacing
  • System depth should no allow pallet overhang -- i.e., for 48”d pallets, we recommend 48”d rack vs. 42”d rack.
  • Install column guards to protect vulnerable columns from forklift strike damage.

  • Only stack like-sized pallets
  • Keep stacks very even
  • Group in stacks of 4 
  • Lay pallets flat, not vertical
  • Purge damaged pallets
  • Keep clear of lighting, electrical panels, & ventilation units
