Maximize Cube Space, Increase Throughput -- Mini-Load ASRS Systems
If you have a high volume of small parts, components, or single items --a mini-load ASRS may be the big break you need to control storage space and operational costs.
Mini-Load ASRS systems improve productivity, put-and-pick accuracy, inventory control, and space utilization. By automating sorting and retrieving goods, ASRS systems reduce labor costs while increasing the speed and accuracy of operations. Additionally, using an ASRS system allows you to store more items in a smaller space than possible with manual storage methods.
Applications
- Warehouses & distribution centers - storage & order picking
- Manufacturing - raw materials & finished goods.
- Retail
- Small parts & components storage
The system uses cranes, robotic arms, or autonomous vehicles to move within narrow storage aisles to place or extract items. The system can handle multiple container types, including cartons, bins, totes, and trays, and it is customizable for specialized applications such as pharmaceuticals or perishables. As a bonus, these systems are highly reliable and require minimal maintenance.
Advantages
- Increase order processing rates/reduce wait times
- Save labor costs
- Improve accuracy & real-time inventory control
- Optimize warehouse space -consolidate storage
- Increase energy efficiency

It’s a Mini-Load But Not a Lightweight
Mini-Load ASRS consolidated storage is designed for smaller items vs. the larger pallet and unit-load ASRS systems. However, the average inventory weight of a single-deep application is approximately 100 lbs --no lightweight application and much safer handled by automation than risking worker injury.
You can also create a double-deep storage design --twice the cargo, twice the weight, and yes, the mini can handle it.
Mini-Load ASRS systems are ideal for a high volume of slower-moving SKUs. Depending on the total volume and total SKUs, we can determine whether a single-deep or double-deep design best fits your needs. While each system is customized to meet your needs, you can expect a throughput rate of one load per minute --equating to 60+ lines per hour for a single-deep design.
